From Here to There
This morning during the Front Row Ministry at the church, the Lord drew me to a verse found in Matthew. It was the passage that Jesus heals a boy who the disciples could not heal. The disciples came to Jesus in private and asked Him why they couldn’t heal in this particular situation. Jesus replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” Matthew 17:20. Mark 9:29 says, “This kind can only come out by prayer and fasting.”
What mountain do you need to move from here to there? I know I have some mountains that need moving. I was mentioning to our staff the other day that it just seems like we are in a season when everything seems to be an uphill climb. It’s not impossible; it’s just going to take a little more gumption than usual.
Starting in the month of February, we will be fasting and praying as a whole congregation. There are many different kinds of fasts. The key is to state your intention as we begin together and follow through with it. I heard the other day where someone said they have fasted their words before. They talked about speaking only what the Spirit of God wants them to say. That they would not speak or participate in any negative conversation that would grieve the Holy Spirit. Now that is something we should always be doing but I think it would be good to intentionally look for ways that we use our words. We are serious about increasing our faith so God can do miracles through our lives. Starting on Sunday, we will have an insert in the bulletin explaining how we are going to approach our fasting. Be sure and pick one up so you can thoroughly prepare.
There will also be an opportunity to participate in a Community Bible Experience where we will read through the New Testament in eight weeks. The Bibles can be purchased in the foyer startingon Sunday. They are only $5 apiece and you will also get some online resources to make this more rewarding.
Pray with me as we prepare to move mountains in our church. I desperately want to move from here and get to where God wants me to be.
I am looking forward to continuing in the series, “Eternal.” Have a blessed Day!
Joy in Jesus!
Pastor Mike
